THE RETURN!?

MAYBE!

We've been out of commission, but we've been painting!  I painted an entire Trollbloods army this year.  Have Dark Elves and Chaos Marines on my table... and more Trollbloods!

A TON has happened.  Real life drama, work, life changing stuff.  But we've painted.

We have also all been away from GW as a whole for over a year but that's changing.  Regardless, stay tuned, who know's what's next!

The Big News for 2013...

...is really big!   I (Wallshammer) am opening my own gaming and hobby store!

It's going to be a huge venture and adventure for myself as I try my hand at running what's a gaming store.  Really, it's the dream of every hobbyist after all.   It will be/is located in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.   We are on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/groups/384923688266796/ and  http://www.facebook.com/KapowComicsCardsAndGamesLtd and also on twitter @kapowltd

We'll be selling miniature games, board games, CCG's, merchandise, "toys", collectibles and all the sort of stuff you'd expect in a store this style.   Plus we'll have all sorts of in store events and special happenings as well as a regular weekly schedule of going ons.

Please, join up ESPECIALLY if you are local.  I will be running all sorts of deals through the sites for viewers and visitors.  We will also have an online store presence, details on that to come as I sort it out with my vendors.

As for the blog... we'll see what happens.  I am going to have very little time to devote to it and am not sure any of the other authors are doing anything here anymore.  If this is the end, thanks for your viewership, it's been great to see.

Smackdown in Santa Town mini battle report!

Smackdown in Santa Town has come and went in a blaze of Imperial Glory as the combined forces of Imperial Guard, Space Wolves and Grey Knights were able to outlast and destroy the ork horde.   Of course, when one GK unit is 1500 points...

New 1500pt Ork List

Is this the one?  Is this the list I'll take to the tournament I've been discussing and practicing for on the 29th?  I'm not sure!

It's sort of similar to my last wacky list, but geared more towards a tournament setting.  Well... sort of.  There's no AV 14, no hordes of boys.  But LOTS of firepower as I witnessed tonight in a practice game, this time against foot slogging Nurgle/Noise Marines... or, as Fear called it, the Two Face Army.  

Actually, he should do an article on it.  I think it's an army with some legs.

Anyhow, the sheer amount of Str 5 and 6 was staggering, not to mention several high strength, low AP large blasts I can do.   What's in the list?   Click, enter, and see.

The Strangest Ork List of them all?

It just might be!  I've devised a bit of a weird mekked out Speed Freekz list.  I have a feeling it might not work AT ALL but still... how much fun would it be?  Come inside and lemme know!

Skullvane Manse and Grot Tanks aka I HAVE been painting!

So, despite the lack of posts, I've actually been painting quite a bit.  I am working on a small Dark Elf force but since they aren't completed I have no pictures of them.   I have also done a bit of terrain, most of which I hope to use for a future store I am (hopefully) opening.

More on that another time.

Update on progress and a small battle report

I too, Have Returned

All right, so I bit off more than I could chew with Noveldar.  And I got really bummed out when my painting table exploded. (I can't remember if I posted about that, but the table I use for painting, a modified laptop cart, blew a gasket on me, while painting some zombies.  Not the worst thing in the world.  No the worst thing was that I had a bunch of Eldar, Space Marines and Vampire Counts on the table at the time AND an open pot of flesh wash.  So you can see why I was a little bummed out)

But I'm putting that behind me!  I'm getting back on the horse.  I'm other metaphor-ing!  Seriously though, I'm going to work some Fantasy, since that's everyone's focus right now, and really, I ought to have a finished Fantasy army.

The orks are coming back!  This time it's for a tournament in Kalispell, Montana on December 29th.  Being that I am a way outsider and it's during a vacation, I figured I'd take something a bit off the wall and unexpected.  Who knows, maybe it will even do well?   You tell me!

I have returned!

So I've been MIA for the past few months, been taking some down time after I got severely burnt out of 40k.. I guess I realised its not my cup of tea, well Ive always known that. But the worst part is I love fantasy and prefer it over 40k, but fantasy is not my strong game and 40k is.. haha anyways I have decided to kick off a new round of fantasy with yet another undead army.. Tomb Kings! I picked up some battalions and figured I wouldnt make the same mistake twice and get all of the core painted and out of the way first rather than having to scramble core units later on down the road when tournaments and events come up. That being  said this weekend I assembled 3 chariots and painted up the first one to get my scheme in order... and for the life of me no matter how many color combos I tried it came back to the cotton candy and bubblegum theme just like my Vampires.. here is the first look. So stay tuned for more coming in the future!

Grots, grots and more grots!

As I mentioned, being off my feet gives me lots of free time.  Instead of working nine hours a day, walking a dog, being active, etc, etc, I am basically sitting around doing nothing at all.

Other then watching endless Netflix, I have been doing some painting.  Amongst the works done... Grots!  Here's a quick picture to tide the faithful viewers over.

Arcane Fulcrum done!

Some quick pictures here of an Arcane Fulcrum I sat around and painted today.  All I can do it sit these days so hopefully that means even more painting!  I did assemble the Skullvane Manse, so maybe that's in the future!

A Little Longer Wait on Those Pics

I screwed up my camera work when taking pictures of Fear's Vampires and Tyranids.  So I'm going to need to re-shoot them.  In the meantime, I'll at least show you the crappy pics I took of his Tyranids.  The Vampires were just a straight up mess.  So my apologies to Fear and to The Chaos Kid, who both put in the time on this project.  I'm going to try to get my regular camera working so I can take pictures with the tripod instead of my really shaky hands.  I'll start with his Trygon:

What's next?

Hey guys!

Seeing as I really haven't really posted any hobby stuff here yet at Hobby At All Costs, I figured I could post a teaser of what I'll be working on next.

I know, I know. Why is this guy posting pictures of grey plastic? I'm just excited about these models. Really, really happy about them actually. And although what I really should be doing is painting up the rest of my Tzeentch warriors, with all these new models that recently came out for Warriors of Chaos, I'll be focusing on the new Skullcrushers among other things.

Disaster Strikes!

I've been gone for a bit.  I know, I know, bad painter!  But life sometimes kicks you in the ass.

Like tonight.

I was finally feeling a little more like myself (I'm on a bunch of pain pills for my neck that have made me a little loopy), and I sat down to paint, thinking "I'm really far behind on Noveldar... I need to get something done".  And I was making good progress... until Disaster Struck!

Out of nowhere, a hinge on my painting table busted, causing my entire station to flip towards me, spilling my paint water, and an open pot of flesh wash, all over my models and my lap.

Not cool.

So I'm going to spend tomorrow trying to recover my models.  Then I'm going to post the pictures me and the Kid took of Fear's models.  Then I'm going to declare Noveldar officially over.  Then I'm going to show you another project I'm going to work on.

But for now, I'm done painting tonight.  It would take the rest of the night just to clean off my paint pots and set up a new painting station on my coffee table.

Ugh...

Reiksguard Done!

I HAVE been painting as well!

After getting these done I realized just how much metal is on them.   They are also a giant pain in the ass to line up.  That's what I get for trying to refurbish old, used models.   Still, it's another unit done for my Empire!
