This picture will make more sense as you read.
I did get admonished by the head guy of the Tales of Terrain Painters thread for putting out too much stuff. While I do see his point that it is a little demoralizing to the people who aren't getting as much done, way to stamp out my enthusiasm.
More after the break:
So I've decided I'm going to scale back my terrain painting so as not to step on any toes. Instead, I'm going to pick up painting either my remaining 40k Orks, my Fantasy Dwarfs or another SECRET PROJECT!!! (DUNN DUNN DUNN!!!!*thunderbolt*!!)
The Orks are mostly finished. I originally had something like 8000 points of Orks, but I sold the bulk of them to one of the gamers at Wallshammer's club. I kept 3000 points for myself. Almost 1500 point of this is already painted, and that's the bulk of the models. All I have left are 12 Lootas, 12 Burnas, 4 Kans, a Trukk and 2 Stompas. So if I tackle this group, it'd be a slow going project. Likely I'd do the Lootas and the Trukk, then the Burnas, then the 4 Kans, then one Stompas at a time. Not necessarily in that order.
The Dwarfs are a much taller order, as I have 3000 points unpainted, and almost all of that is foot models. There are 2 Bolt Throwers, 2 BfSP Cannons, a Gyrocopter, and the rest is all infantry. 40 Thunderers, 20 Quarrellers, 78 Warriors and Longbeards, 20 Slayers, 13 Miners and a couple of characters. I really enjoyed painting the first 1500 points of my Dwarf army though, so this might not be too bad, though it will take quite a long time. That's a lot of models, and unlike Wallshammer, I'm not a fast painter.
(Totally off-topic, but I thought I'd throw this picture in for fun. I still have a MASSIVE Orc and Goblin army, and a while back I was looking to swap all my 6th edition Night Goblins for 7th edition ones, and did this picture as a size comparison for potential swappers. I ended up cancelling the deal... what was I thinking?)
I don't really want to say much about my next secret project, other than to say I'm thinking of 2 options: one would very likely be 40k (as I have 3 fantasy armies, but only 2 40k... not to mention model for model fantasy wins probably 10:1) or a non-miniature related project.
Of course this blog is all about painting minis, so I feel like I'd be straying from the formula by not doing a mini-related project. I'm also not sure I want to delve into another 40k project, since I have an ongoing Eldar project as it is. Plus I do feel like I should be getting my back-log painted rather than delving into new territory.
So what do you guys think? Finish (or try to finish) some of my other established armies? Start something new, to freshen things up? Or do something all together different?
Paint existing stuff. No secret projects!
