Eldar:
Far and away my main army. Almost 7k fully painted!
On my table:
- Farseer
- 5 Ranger/Pathfinders
- 2 Harlequins
Coming Soon:
- I'm not sure yet. I'm waiting to get a head count from Walls. I'm hoping it's a lot!
I'm currently scheduled to do 200 points a month for the next 12 months with the Tale of 40k gamers. So expect to see more Eldar soon.
Orks:
My other 40k army. Just under 1500 points painted. At one point I had over 8k in models, but decided to downsize and sold off 5k to one of Wallshammer's gaming club members. What do I have left:
- 4 Killa Kan (these are all started)
- 1 Trukk (primed)
- 12 Lootas (4 are half painted)
- 12 Burnas (primed)
- 2 Stompas (one is painted, but badly... it needs some serious TLC)
I've kind of got these one the back burner. It would be nice to get them all finished, but I have a lot of projects on the go right now, so they just don't rank high on the priority list.
High Elves:
I wouldn't really say I have a main fantasy army, but this is certainly the army with the most finished. Sort of. Technically I have over 2k painted. It's just a really, really terrible 2k.
- Basing on 2 bolt throwers and a chariot
- 8 Silver helms
- Lion Chariot
- 20 Phoenix Guard
- 20 White Lions
- 50 Lothern Sea Guard
- Dragon Mage
- Archmage
- 10 Dragon Princes
- 5 Ellyrian Reavers
- Caradryan (my only named model)
- Prince on a Griffin
It's quite a bit. Most of it is assembled and primed, except for the white lions and dragon princes. The big thing is just getting through all of it. I'm getting there though. 300 points a month through the tale of Fantasy painters and it should be all finished by this time next year. Assuming I haven't gone crazy from all the paint fumes.
Dwarfs:
I put a lot of work into my Dwarfs earlier this year and got 1500 points painted in about 2 months. Then I got really stalled out on them because I wasn't finding them very fun to play. To this day, I'm on the fence about them, but I haven't found a better alternative.
- 2 Thanes
- Slayer Lord
- 46 Shield Dwarfs
- 16+ GW Dwarfs
- 16+ GW Longbeards (sadly not the cool old metals models)
- 2 Bolt Throwers
- 2 Cannons
- 20 Slayers
- 13+ Miners
- Gyropcopter
- 40 Thunderers
- 20 Quarrelers
- 2 Engineers
So between my Dwarfs and my Elves I have 10k, enough for this giant game me and Walls have been talking about. And I'm likely going to paint a ton of this while Walls is on his honeymoon for that November tournament... I think. Again, I'm so on the fence about my Dwarfs. I like painting them, and I think they turn out really good, but they are really dull to play.
Orcs and Goblins:
And on the other end of the spectrum are my Fantasy Orcs. A blast to play but a chore to paint. I've been looking for years for a fast and dirty way of getting them done that I'm happy with, but no such luck. And it would take too long to list the entire 10k that isn't painted. It'd be easier to say that I have a warboss, a Shaman and a Giant fully painted, and a couple of test models, the rest is all in different stages of disarray. This is another army where I'd like to find a better 'fit'. Something that I enjoy both painting AND playing. That might end up being a whole other post...
Warmachine/Hordes:
These are on track to be finished by the end of the year, assuming I don't buy a bunch more. The One Thing A Week Challenge on the PP forums has been such a great boon for this. Really the only problem I have here is that I'm starting to feel like I have more models than I'll ever use. So I'm slowing down on new acquisitions for now.
- Reeve Hunter
- Tharn Bloodtrackers and Nuala (7 models)
- Gnarlhorn Satyr
- Cygnar Battlebox (the new plastics)
- eKaya and Laris
- Morvhana
- Lord of the Feast
I'm also using these models for the Tales of Skirmish Gamers. So far so good. And I'm painting the Storm Strider for that painting contest.
Terrain:
I'm pretty sure I laid out how much terrain I still have to paint, and that I got into trouble of the Tales of Terrain Painters for getting over-zealous. Which is probably for the best, as my projects are piling up rather quick.
So, assuming I'm going with my Dwarfs for that Fantasy tournament, all my models are dedicated a project, except my Orcs and Goblins. Of course, there is a big part of me that wants to start a new 40k and a new fantasy army. Just for something new in 40k, since my main opponent only plays 2 armies, and one of them is also Eldar. In Fantasy, I think I'm still looking for that perfect balance army, like Eldar is for me in 40k. Love playing, love painting.
Well, I don't feel THAT bad now. You have almost as much as I do! You definitely have more terrain though and I have no non GW stuff to really work on.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we don't need some sorta side panel checklist of our weekly/monthly painting quests? Especially with you being involved in the Tale Ofs and me likely joining some when I get back, plus tourneys and leagues.
