I am going to a 1500pt tournament in the States (Kallispell to be exact) on December 29th. I am going to be at the cabin in Whitefish (which is nearby) for New Years anyhow, so why not right?
Help me decide what to bring! I am looking to at least make a nice first impression. I want to do well, but I don't want to bring something everyone is going to hate playing. Follow me inside for the options:
There are quite a few options, believe it or not. Some more doable then others, of course.
Imperial Guard! Yes, folks, I have an Imperial Guard army and quite a gigantic one at that. It's almost all Catachan based. I have nearly everything for the army as well. It's been collecting dust for quite a while and hasn't seen the table much in the past couple years. Perhaps I bring some down, touch them up and throw down?
Orks! The good ole standby. They've been my 40k bread and butter for a bit now. Definitely the most fun to play and I have fairly good experience using them. I do have stuff still to build and paint.
The next two are a long(er) shot. I have nearly no experience with them, though they are pretty and I imagine fun to play with.
Bugs! I have some, courtesy of a trade with Green Feevah. I would want to completely repaint them in my own scheme/style. Also, I don't necessarily have all the "best" stuff. No tervigons, no gaunts. It's an old style Stealer and Fex shock type army. I think I could make it work with practice.
Unbeknownest to a lot of locals, I have quite a collection of Blood Angels, I am sure enough to do 1500. It's mostly jump troops with some Death Company in a Rhino. Only the Rhino is painted, though I have some brass etchings I want to add. They are a solid army, but everyone knows my history with 3+ armor.
And finally, the super duper mega long shot.
Yup, Eldar. I have a pile of the old Harlequin models, a couple jetbikes, some characters, some rangers. Not sure I have even close to 1500pts though. But I bet they'd be a blast to paint. Like I said, mega long shot.
So there you have it. My choices. Chime in!
As cool as Harlequins would be, I say go with the guard. I've never actually seen a Catachan army on the table believe it or not.
