You heard it right! Green Feevah is coming here tomorrow, wedding on Saturday and leaving on Monday for Mexico! I won't be back until the 20th, so have fun without me.
Also, as a tease... I think I may have figured out my One Thing At a Time secret army!
Four guys who want to win at painting... AT ALL COSTS!

One Thing A Week: More Strider-y Goodness
The legs of my storm strider are finished. I apologize for the poor picture, but I'm kind of rushing today in prep for leaving for the wedding tomorrow.
Next week I'm painting the base and the pilots.
And just a note to our readers: There likely won't be many updates until Monday or Tuesday next week. Wallshammer's big day is on Saturday, and I've got a 12+ hour drive there and back to be there. So feel free to drop a ton of comments and I'll try to respond to them all when I get back (Walls will be on his honeymoon... but he told me we can go on without him until he gets back).
Taking suggestions and comments!
Hey hey there Blue Table Fans...
...wait, wrong show.
Seriously though, we'd love to hear feedback from ANY AND ALL visitors to the site. We get a large amount of hits, but very few subscribers or comments. We do understand this is a growing blog so don't get too hung up on that sort of thing. Regardless, what would YOU like to see more? Pictures? Battle reports? What sort of topics/op-eds should we discuss? Tutorials and step by steps?
Green Feevah and I would love to hear more from all the folks from around the world taking a second to stop by. And we do truly appreciate even the brief visit!

My Turn! Project Log (or the Thing That Goes Bump in the Night!)
Wallshammer had a great idea. It's time to lay all the cards on the table. And just for fun, more random pictures!
My Giant List of Things to Do (UPDATED!)
(Yes... I have a lot of unfinished projects. So, I am like every other gamer in the world.
Let's make a list of all of them and see if I can't use it as a checklist, or since I am getting married a "Honey-Do" list.

One Thing a Week Challenge, Storm Strider Part One Finished!
So I finished the top of the Storm Strider. It took A LOT longer than I thought it would, so I'm amending my plans a little.
This week is the top, next week is now just the legs, and week three will be entirely the base and the 2 drivers.
Now to get hustlin' on those Swordmasters. I've only got until Tuesday night!

EDIT: I should really look at the pictures first... Im' going to go do more work on the lightning towers now... they look awful up close.

The Bits Start Rolling In
The big news here is that I got my replacement legs for the Strom Strider, so once I get a break in the weather to prime, it's full-steam ahead (get it? Because it's a steampunk... nevermind)
Also my Eldar bits are slowly trickling in. Once I get the army from Wallshammer it'll be go go go on them as well.
Between all this, the Tournament Challenge, and all the Tales of... Painters, I don't know how I'm going to fit in the One Thing At A Time Challlenge.
I'll think of something clever, I'm sure.

List try out time! All Mounted Empire! (warning: craziness inside)
So today I am going to try and list that will either work wonders or fail miserably. As the title suggests, it's all mounted Empire. Not Bretonnians, but rather knightly orders and pistoliers and such... and no warmachines!
List and thoughts after the break...
List and thoughts after the break...
One Thing a Week: Storm Strider, Part One
Well I'm still waiting on bits, but the deadline to get this done is looming closer, so I'm going to try to finish everything but the two legs pieces I'm missing, then do them up as soon as they arrive and assemble it all together.
This week's project is the largest piece: the top. I've made good progress on the actual structure, and laid done a little colour on the pilots. This is a much bigger project than I was thinking though, and I thought it was a big project! The metals are more or less finished, once I get other areas finished I'll go back and do some touch-ups on them. Just starting on all the 'lightning' parts. Starting with a very, very light blue, then white, then wash with a very bright blue then clean-up... no problem right?
Actually I think the biggest challenge of this project will be the base. I have some preliminary ideas, but I want it to be special because this is such a centrepiece model. Hopefully I can polish off the top before week's end and get a head start on the base, which along with the legs is next's weeks project.
After that, I just have to have faith that 2 incredibly inefficient and bureaucratic institutions can communicate with each other and deliver my parts within the next 8 days. What could possible go wrong? *cries*

STAY OUT OF HERE GREEN FEEVAH!! THIS IS SECRET!
The rest of our readers, however, please enter as I am in dire need of input! So begins (sort of) our next big project here on the forum. I am hoping you folks can help me!
Was It Something I Said?
It got so quiet...
I'm mostly kidding. This is just a quick update, after the break:

One Thing A Week Challenge Keeps On Rollin'
I just finished my pCaine for my weekly challenge. I think he turned out really great. It's weird because it took me a long time to get into painting this model, which I why I got such a late week start on it, but once I threw down my paint and saw the incredible details of this model, I couldn't put him down, and finished him in one session.
It's not the best picture, but I was late. I'll do some better pictures if I ever see the sun again. Vancouver seems to have remembered what city it is, and so it's pouring outside.
So my project for the next week and a half is to paint up as much of the Storm Strider as I can before I leave for the wedding. I also still need to finish my Swordmasters and finish up a Bard model I'm doing for my D&D game. I'm hoping to get a lot done tomorrow, because Sunday and Monday are gaming days, so no painting... or at least not much. Who am I kidding? I get my best painting done late at night.

New Look Site!
Green Feevah put a bunch of work into the blog today. We added a visitor globe to see when people are on and where from, gussied up the back ground and rearranged some things. Let us know whatcha think!
Something Wicked This Way Comes
Wallshammer and I have been planning. Okay, it's more like scheming. Plotting world domination. Or our next big thing.
Here's what we have come up with:
These pictures have nothing to do with the article.
Here's what we have come up with:
- The WAAAAAGH-off 2!
- The Battalion Box Challenge
- The One Thing a Week Challenge
- Tournament Challenge
Now let me explain them:
.... after the break.
.... after the break.
The Orc Experiment.. and More!
Here's a quick pic dump of the 'finished' results of my experiment with Army Painter. I wasn't expecting a miracle, but I am a little disappointed. I could have achieved the same or better results with a White Primer and a Yellow Ink wash. The Soft Shade worked well on the yellow cloth areas, but was a disappointment everywhere else.

Green Feevah thinks this list is scary!
Moreso... I think it's awesome! It's pretty wacky but totally an Evil Sunz army through and through! See it after the break!
What I'm Working On (and Other Strangeness...)
So, I did my test for the Orcs, as you saw in the last post. I had to delay the Dullkote-ing though on account of rain. Tomorrow, I hope.
Doesn't really matter though, as I have to put that project on hold for a few days. As it turns out, I joined a Warmachine Journeyman League. Which starts Tuesday night. And needs a brand new painted Battlegroup Box. So I'm painting that up, as fast as I can. I also have to finish pCaine by Saturday for the 'One Thing a Week' challenge and for the Tales of Skirmish Painters on Warseer.
***EDIT: I've decided to opt out of the Journeyman League. The store hosting ti is over an hour away from me, so I'd never get enough games in, and the hobby awards reward volume, not quality. Combine that with the fact that most of the players in the league are staff members, and can get stuff much cheaper than I can, and I realized that there isn't much point to doing this. I already have a painted Cygnar army. I don't need to double it in size in a few short weeks just for the sake of spending money.***

The Project Decision Conundrum!
The great Orkathon is over. Tournament is gone and past (oh... crap... I should post game 3!). Now... what do I do? Well, have my wedding and honeymoon first I guess. Wedding is only a couple weeks and a bit away and we leave right after.
But in the meantime and after...
My Crazy New Side Project!
So after I posted yesterday, I kept thinking about other projects I could do. I went through a rather exhaustive list, and bugged Wallshammer about it, but finally came to a decision!
In a lot of ways, this project is taking me back to my roots as 'Green Feevah'. But I wanted to take things in a whole new direction. Something fresh, something I'd always wanted to do, but something that would be easier on both my time, patience and wrecked neck to accomplish.
What is it, you ask? Find out after the break (plus tasty pictures!)

It's Too Quiet in Here...
Just a quick update:
I haven't gotten much done in the last 2 days, thanks mostly to the screaming pain in my neck (and no, I don't mean my wife; just kidding babe, I love you... don't kill me)
I did get admonished by the head guy of the Tales of Terrain Painters thread for putting out too much stuff. While I do see his point that it is a little demoralizing to the people who aren't getting as much done, way to stamp out my enthusiasm.
More after the break:
This picture will make more sense as you read.

One Thing A Week Gets A Lot Done
I mapped out everything I've gotten done since I joined the Privateer Press Forums' 'One Thing A Week Challenge'. Here's a hint: It's a lot.
I STRONGLY encourage you to try to just get a couple of models a week painted, and in no time you'll have a fully-painted army.

Mythacon Fantasy: Game 2 vs Warriors of Chaos/Dark Elves
You know, I had all sorts of mean grumpy things to say about this game, but I won't. A lot of it was me/us not being prepared as much as we should have. I just take it for granted that my opponent knows all their rules from their army book and relevant rules for their modelset. Sometimes your wrong and you pay the price. Welcome to game 2. :)
Progress!
So I am just tearing through my terrain. I'm really wondering why I hadn't done this before? I'm having a lot of fun painting the models, I'm getting a lot done, and it's allowing me to have more variable terrain for my games.
It used to be that I played with the same 3 tree bases, the Chapel, Tower and Mansion (none of the buildings are finished...) and the Temple ruins. Every single game.
But now I have another tree stand:

But now I have another tree stand:
The trees look a little glossy, but that's because the wash is still drying. I got them done and went straight to photos, because I knew I wouldn't have time to do it later.
So I think I'll finish a building next. What do you guys think? Chapel, Tower or Mansion?
The Nerve of Some People
So I'm very happy to say that our Blog is seeing more attention. I'm very unhappy to say that it's because someone on Dakka Dakka is slagging Wallshammer.
First he takes pictures from our site, and doesn't properly acredit them. That's fine, let's just assume he made a mistake. But then he goes on to tell everyone at Dakka that Walls said some 'very mean things about him'. Quoted from Wallshammer's article:
" I personally CANNOT stand this guy. He goes to school in my city and is renowned in the scene as a douche."
Here's the thing: I've dealt with this guy before as well. And he said way more 'mean' and inflammatory things to both me and Wallshammer than anything above. But he posts on Dakka Dakka to make himself look like the victim AFTER he steals our picture and mis-credits us for it. And glazes over the fact that Walls complimented him on his painting (and does so again on Dakka). My previous dealings with this guy can be summed up in one sentence, paraphrased from him to me: "You're wrong and you're stupid because my way is the only way to do things". Which is the nicest way I can frame it.
We here at HAAC are all about painting and having fun. I don't even do tournaments any more, exactly because of this back-stabbing, mud-slinging BS. All I personally want to do is to paint, because it relaxes me, and play friendly, casual games with people I enjoy playing with. And not only that, but we created this blog to share our joy of the hobby side of the game with others on the internet. And now, thanks to this troll, people will turn away from our blog because Wallshammer is being set-up to look like the villain in all this.
I really hope that if you are coming from Dakka Dakka, that you look at more than just the article where Dakka poster Fafnir is called out on his poor behaviour (I'll also point out that Wallshammer never used his name, so until he went all 'pity me' on Dakka, no one would have even known. AND if he'd bothered to take his own pictures instead of stealing ours, no one would have cared). Look at our posts. We just want to have fun painting and making cool stuff. We don't spend our time slagging people for the sake of slagging people. We're way too busy painting.
I'm hoping this is all I'll ever need to say about this. I don't want to deal with this crap.
Late Night Update
I decided to give my brushes the full 48 hours, in hopes that it will make a big difference. So I decided to keep working on terrain. And since I happened to have my last tree stand downstairs, having just primed it, I started working on that.
As opposed to my other three tree bases, I decided to do a fall theme for this one. The trees themselves are about 50% done. Should have them done by late Monday night, assuming I work on the High Elves tomorrow. If not, I might have it done by tomorrow night.
What do you think?

Super-Quick update
Just letting everyone know that I finished the Crashed Aquila tonight, after a complete re-paint because Wallshammer is a meanie and was bugging me about the colour. BOO! HISS! It's too dark for pictures now, so I'll edit this post in the morning with pics.
Edit: And here they are!

Mythacon Fantasy: The Armies
So Sunday brought upon us the fantasy half of the event. I've heard the fantasy guys were a lot more laid back then the 40k players, which was mostly true. This event was certainly more organized, but also TOO laid back if that makes any sense. There was a too casual atmosphere that allowed stuff to happen that shouldn't have. Case in point immediately after the break...

Mythacon 40k: Game 3 vs Double Imperial Guard
There is always a certain army you see that you know is THAT army. The army that's going to be the worst match up for yours. Not just killing you easily, not just equipped to smash you, but you know, no matter what, no matter who's handling it, you're just not going to have super amounts of fun. This was that game.
Mythacon 40k: Game 2 vs Sisters of Battle and Blood Angels
Game two... and we remained on the same table. At this point it wasn't random draws but rather you were assigned to tables depending on your points from the first game. The team we faced had obviously scored about as well as we had and we were on table 5 of 7. I really am not a fan at all of this system. Knowing your standing really takes the wind out of your sails, especially on table 3. Table 2, you win, you're on table 1. Table 3, you need ties on the other tables ahead of you to really move to the top.
The game after the break!

High Elf Swordmasters More or Less Step by Step
So I've been meaning to do a step-by-step to show my painting process. And I started out really good with the Swordmasters, going one step at a time, taking a picture, then moving on to the next step. Then, I got into my groove. I know it sounds stupid, but it's like in my old fighting days, where I'm not really thinking about what I'm doing, I don't really notice the noises in the background or anything else. I'm just moving forward. It's the sweet spot where my accuracy and speed increase. When I get into the zone I get a lot done.
Which I did.
So here's where I started. White primer. I use it a lot, but I don't recommend it. It's finicky and fussy and doesn't always produce good results. Case in point: I primed 3 Swordmasters I'd gotten from a friend to finish out a 20-man unit. 2 of those model primed just fine, the third one came out 'fuzzy'. There was a weird residue from the spray can that gave the whole model a texture (and killed all the details). That model is now sitting in Simple Green, which is why the unit is only 19 models in the pictures.

Mythacon 40k: Game 1 vs Orks and Dark Eldar
Our first game of the day looked to get off to a good start. I was off in the bathroom when they announced tables so my partner Paul carried my stuff over to where we were assigned.
BACK! And ready for action.
I am back from Mythacon! Good, bad and ugly coming up in the next series of posts. I'll be doing an army review of those who entered, reports on all my games and wrap ups from both systems, replete with drama in both. A tournament wouldn't be a proper tournament without drama afterall.
Stay tuned!

While The Cat's away...
... the mice will paint terrain?
As I mentioned before, I've joined all of the Tale of groups on Warseer, one of them being the Tale of Terrain Painters. What I did not realize at the time was that they were already halfway through the event. So, because I'm almost obsessive about these kinds of things, I'm going to whip up extra terrain to make up the difference in months. Which means 6 extra pieces. I must be out of my mind.

My August challenge was the Moonscape craters, which is the bottom row. My September challenge was the Blastscape craters, which is the top row. They are both 100% finished, and I'm really happy with the results. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't do them up earlier.

Off to the tournament!
Mythacon is here this weekend. I leave tomorrow for Calgary. We'll check into the big event, get our passes and go get a hotel.
Mythacon is a huge convention with every minis game there is, D&D, other RPG's and much more. It's quite the weekend for them. The 40k and fantasy events are double tournaments. Last year our club brought home overall and painting for 40k.
Four games of 40k on Saturday with double Orks. Three games of fantasy on Sunday with double Beastmen. Way to play the "low tier" armies, no? Should be a grand ole time. I am hoping to take enough pictures and notes for some battle reports.
Unless I lose. :)

Moar Picturez!!!
I took quite a lot of photos in the last couple of days. Allow me to share them with you.
Almost all of my painted Eldar to date. I say almost because my wife is generously donating her Harlequins to the army, and is in fact finishing painting them. I'll post them in a separate entry later once she's finished to show off her mad paintin' skillz.
